Recent studies have shown that CD86 also plays an activating role in NK cells, which can activate NK cells by binding to its ligands, such as CD28 or CTLA-4, and participate in the immune response and tumor surveillance in vivo. This article firstly introduces the basic structure, distribution, function and regulation mechanism of CD86, and then reviews the role of CD86 in NK cells and the corresponding molecular signaling pathway, as well as the potential mechanism of CD86 regulating NK cells in tumor immunotherapy. Finally, the deficiencies and controversies of CD86 in NK cells are discussed, and prospects for future research directions are proposed.
