Older people have limited regenerative abilities and are more prone to disease, syndromes, and sickness. 4. Health expenditures are already skyrocketing and are expected to do so for a ling time to come. The only current defense between this growing age wave and an already overburdened healthcare system is the hope of medical research breakthroughs, which will not come overnight. 5. This poses a financial challenge. 6. A variety of issues relating to the well-being of the general public calls for funding. Yet, with a limited budget, there invariably will be a war over public funding between taking car of old people and educating the young, for instance. 7. In some places age discrimination does exist. Some people hire younger people since these people believe that older people are no longer that efficient. 8. There has always been in the workplace the belief that older workers are less adaptable than younger people, in particular to changing technology. 老年人的优点 1. There was never a golden age when we respected older people more than we do now. There have always been strongly held views about older people because they have been a substantial presence in all societies. 2. Older peoples attitudes and values are now hugely different to those of their counterparts from previous generations. 3. There are many things people can do after retirement. A person can do new things, learn new skills, and be more active in public affairs. 4. Be staying active, ones mental development is still sharp making the person feel important in the community. 5. There are many stereotypes about the elderly, such as the use of walking sticks, frequent doctor visits, and sleeping a lot.
